I had been admitted for emergency surgery and could feel the lump in my side. Two young children at home and I just knew it was cancer. As I paced, I kept asking God "You promised me peace but this isn't peace. What if it's cancer? WHERE IS THE PEACE you promised?" And I heard Him say "What if it is cancer? I'm the God of cancer. I know what the outcome is and have everything you need in place waiting for you". I've learned peace comes from knowing God is waiting for you - whether in surgery or in Africa. Like the dad in the pool telling his child to jump - I'll catch you - God has gone before you.
